This museum is also great for all ages. I went with my parents and my daughters, aged 7 and 4, and noone got bored.
From miles of nature trails to a giant screen theater to awesome adult exhibits to a really fun kids nature tree house to explore (that made me wish I was 7 again), this place is a great place to explore.
Our family visited Fernbank Museum of Natural History and loved every minute of it. We arrived when it opened to find free parking and left when it was getting ready to close. We had 4 adults and 2 kids ages 4 and 7. We started with the atrium where the dinosaur skeletons are and went outside for the walk. There were 2 areas to play one recommend for 9-13 year olds, but our 7 year old loved it. The other was perfect for our 4 year old. We sat outside to eat lunch that we brought in a backpack. There are plenty of restrooms. We never had to look for one. The story time for little children was very entertaining. Once inside, we did the discovery are upstairs and the walk through GA history, history if shells and then the 3-D movie about predators. We stopped and sat outside for a snack and the went back in to let the kids play at the Nature Outpost. The museum was wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our day at Fernbank.
Very fun place to visit. Especially when they are doing their special science events for children. My daughters (3 and 6) LOVED learning about plants and amazingly how gladiators became gladiators and what they did.
As annual members my family has had an excellent time everytime we have been throughout this year. We have also enjoyed the 3D movies and many different exhibits that have been there. We always have plenty to see and learn new things every trip. We have also enjoyed their Fernbank after dark events.
The dinosaur fossils are a major draw, but implementing them as one part of an historic trek through time focusing on the land that became Georgia was brilliant and gave the exhibits much more meaning.
And for us adults found it very entertaining with all the info and the nature trail walks outside with occasional play areas for children. Would love to go again. :)
This is a very well constructed museum with truly something for everyone. It hosts traveling exhibits from around the world as well as high quality permanent ones.
I guess to me it was just a trail. Coming from North Carolina we have lots of trail places. I would recommended maybe more for kids. It did have good information but like I said coming from North carolina we have better places and our museums in Raleigh are free and better looking. But it wasn't a bad place to go. If you have the city pass is a great place for a family but if I could choose again I would of probably not pick this place for me instead I would pick the college hall of fame.
Oh, and parking is free right next to the museum, less than a 5 minute walk.
