We had an emergency related to an international travel. We had to travel the next day but both US and Korean passports for my kids expired. As Atlanta Consulate (for Koreans) and US Passport Agency (for Americans) are next each other, we visited both places, hoping to get a travel authorization document so that we can travel the next day.
I had completely different experience from Korean public servants in Korea, I think this is satisfaction issue limited to this Atlanta office - I wish.
On the other hand, people in the US Passport Agency made it clear that they would do anything to help people in emergency. When we got there, we found that we did not bring one important document. We were panicked but they comforted us, saying that they would issue a one-year limited passport on the same day instead of a five-year passport. Moreover, we were told that if we provide the missing documents within a month, they would replace the one-year limited passport with a five-year passport for free of charge. What a different experience! We were able to travel with our kids the next day with US passports.
i was worry because i read that so unkind and did not know what they do, but when we visit, the workers very kind and helpful. even though the person to responsible to visa was not there, co- worker was knowledgeable and gave us information, also the visa respond person followed us.
Associates or consulates who work in this office does not equipped with public servants code of conducts.
A receptionist in the Korean Consulate in Atlanta had an attitude and was quite rude. When we explained our situations, she simply said "No, there is nothing we can do." Later, from web search, we found that they could have issued a travel authorization document for a one-time use.
They made tremendous progress, and now I can give them a star for their services. (So far they were below the star or negative star)
We decided to give up Korean citizenship for our kids because it was so clear to us that when there is an emergency, you cannot get any help from a Korean Consulate.
Gives out completely wrong information and does not know what they are doing. Gave an attitude with my mother and was no help at all. Terrible and rude the girl needs to be fired.
I don't know how it's been in the past years but the people here are very helpful. I missed a flight because of a expired passport but with their help i was able to renew in 3 days
