Very old cemetery inside the city perimeter. Take a walk or drive through. No entrance fees. You will get to see some famous people cemeteries. I recommend a visit to this place.
As cemeteries go, this is probably one of the more interesting ones with a lot of history. They even have tours. If you are looking for something to do on a nice day that is free, it is worth exploring.
Spur of the moment trip. We lucked out and had a two hour tour. It was so interesting. One can take several types of tours. Three I think are worth taking would be the General knowledge(the one we took) , Malts and Vaults, and Epitaphs. Our guide was very knowledgeable. The tour costs 12.00. I also downloaded an app on my phone which I have referred to since our visit. It has a map and an audio guide to the most important sections of the cemetery.
Beautiful and peaceful place. So much history. Would definitely recommend picking up the self-guided walking tour booklet from the gift shop. A great, inexpensive way to give out of town visitors a great Atlanta experience.
Attended the halloween tour while visiting family. It was awesome. Actors portraying various famous people buried in the cemetery offering highlights of their life and contributions to Atlanta's history. Obviously a lot of planning and hard work went into this program. Thank you for sharing.
