Not only are the pieces seriously and cleverly contemporary, they flaunt the concept of stone sculpture as big-time boring and dead to this world. The collaborating couple incorporates such accompaniments as beer bottles and a mayonnaise jar.
Yesterday I stopped by and visited with Marcia Wood at her gallery. If you haven't seen the current Myzot Schlangele exhibit there...gorgeous polished, white, lasa marble sculptures...you've missed something amazing. At first glance, I was sure the work was ceramic with a smooth as silk glaze. It's hard to believe it is polished stone it's so perfect.
It is the foremost contemporary art gallery in the Southeast.
An interesting aside: they travel the world showing their work with their 4-year-old son who has already seen five continents
